Lyric Wins Two Indie Channel Music Awards

Congratulations to Teri “Lyric” Green, the winner of two brand spankin’ new Indie Channel Music Awards!

Lyric’s song “Scars” won the Indie Channel Music Awards for Best Rap Recording and Best Rap Song. The song features a haunting mix of Lyric’s rhythmic rapping and Gabrielle Taryn’s soaring vocals. And frankly, I’ve had the song stuck firmly in my head since the first time I heard it.

Listen to “Scars” on Lyric’s ReverbNation page.

Lyric had this to say about the experience:

“It was phenomenal because I performed the night prior. As I was walking to take the stage, you could hear people saying things like ‘she’s amazing,’ ‘really talented,’ and ‘she’s a natural star.’ Then they would high-five me — even kids. I felt like I accomplished more than an award. I captured their hearts.”

Lyric’s Journey Continues

All of us here in the YOBI.tv family send a huge congrats out to Teri “Lyric” Green!

You remember Lyric. She was a fan favorite on the first season of Take the Stage. She got a standing ovation for her first performance from one-and-only Johnny Wright. She completed a rigorous  50 Mics in 60 Days self-challenge. And she wrote a song called “Scars” (which features fellow Take the Stager Gabrielle Taryn) that both Johnny Wright and superstar producer/songwriter Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins really dug during the live finale of the Take the Stage series.

Well…Lyric is at it again!

She was featured this month in the Industry All Access New Artist Spotlight, which named her “Chicago’s Hottest Star.” The IAA story is a great interview that ranges on topics from how Lyric discovered her own talent, how her experiences influence her both personally and professionally, and how she through her art can transmute pain into beauty. Definitely a must-read!

And…as if that we’re enough…

Lyric’s song “Scars” has been nominated for an Indie Music Channel Award in not one but two categories: Best Rap Recording and Best Rap Song! And — as an added bonus — Lyric will be performing out in LA at the renowned Ocean Way Recording Studio at both the VIP Party on April 27 and the actual Awards Show on April 28!

Congratulations again, Lyric, for rocking and rapping your way to the top!
