We at YOBI.tv are happy to announce a new promotional opportunity for our Season 6 YOBIAct, YOBIFilm, YOBIPics, and YOBISing Finalists.
Here’s how it will work:
(1) All Season 6 Finalists may post a Bio Video Interview to their YOBI Profile that answers the questions below. Make the video as funny, creative, entertaining, or as serious as you’d like. Just be yourself, and use whatever style you feel shows your true personality.
What or who inspired you to get into your field? (Use acting, filmmaking, photography, or singing as your field, depending on which contest you’re a finalist in.)
Describe your career in your field thus far. Feel free to discuss classes or lessons you have taken, events you have participated in, projects you have worked on, songs or albums you have recorded, recognition you have received, etc.
What is your favorite piece you’ve created and why?
Tell us where you see yourself in 5 years and whether it includes a career in your field.
What would you like to say to your friends and fans voting for you?
(2) Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org when your Bio Video Interview is up on your profile and ready to be promoted. Do not skip this step! We won’t promote your video until you tell us it is ready.
(3) Watch the YOBI.tv Facebook and Twitter channels for the post that features you as a Season 6 Finalist, and then use it to promote yourself across your own social media networks.
Congratulations again to all of our Season 6 Finalists!
Each contest consists of a number of preliminary weekly rounds. This season we’ve started off with 40 — but that number could (and probably will) change, usually as a result of our production schedule.
Voting in each preliminary round is open from Noon Eastern time on Monday to Noon Eastern time on the following Monday. After voting closes, we tally the votes and advance the 2 contestants who have the highest number of votes into the Finals. We then clear the vote totals for all of the other contestants, and reopen voting in the next preliminary round. We repeat that process until all of the preliminary rounds have been completed.
The contest finals begin immediately after the preliminary rounds finish. They consist of a number of weekly elimination rounds. We will post the knockout schemes when the finals begin, and the finalists who receive the lowest number of votes in each round will be eliminated according to those schemes until we have our Season 6 contest winners.
A couple of important things to note:
Votes are set back to zero at the beginning of each preliminary round. This means that your chances of advancing to the contest finals are the same each week, regardless of when you discovered and entered the contest. A contestant who enters a YOBI contest in round 32 has the same chance to advance to the finals as a contestant who entered the contest in round 2.
All of the voting in all of the rounds of all of the YOBI contests is done by members of the YOBI community. We here at YOBI are not allowed to vote, and we have no part in choosing who advances to the finals or who wins. Members of the YOBI community — in other words, YOU — are in complete control.
If you advance to the finals during the early preliminary rounds, congratulations! You won’t have to worry about recruiting votes again until the finals, true — but don’t lose touch with the YOBI community, and definitely don’t change your email address without telling us. Every season a handful of really talented artists are eliminated from the finals for legal reasons because they miss our emails.
We are happy to announce that Season 6 of our YOBI.tv talent contests is now underway!
As always, our contests are free to enter and are decided by the votes of our YOBI community members. Winners of our YOBIAct contest win roles in the cast of an upcoming YOBI.tv webseries. Winners of our YOBIFilm and YOBIPics contests win spots in the film crew of an upcoming YOBI.tv webseries. Winners of our YOBISing contests win spots on our Take the Stage webseries.
If you know of any aspiring or independent actors, performers, filmmakers, photographers, singers, or musical artists, please let them know about YOBI.tv. We’d love to have them!
